Microsoft acquires Nuance for $19.7 Billion 

Yesterday Microsoft has made it official that Nuance will be acquired by Microsoft for $56.00 per share, which is around $19.7 billion. 

The decision about acquisition is said to be aimed at improving the Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare. Nuance is a Cloud and AI Software company having decades of healthcare and AI experience. 

The acquisition has been approved by the Board of Directors of both Nuance and Microsoft and the deal is expected to close by the end of this year. 

What led to Microsoft acquiring Nuance

The acquisition will expand Microsoft's total addressable market (TAM) in the healthcare sector, bringing the company’s TAM in healthcare to nearly $500 billion. 

Microsoft and Nuance has been in a partnership since 2019, By supplementing the Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare with Nuances solutions, as well as the benefit of Nuance’s expertise and relationships with EHR systems providers, Microsoft will be better able to support healthcare providers through ambient clinical intelligence and other Microsoft cloud services
